USS Borie lost 3 officers and 24 enlisted men when the ship went down. None of the fatalities came as the result of enemy action; all 157 aboard successfully abandoned ship and all those who died were lost in the icy water, many just too weak to get over the side of the rescuing destroyers.

Note the outline of Card’s forward elevator in the flight deck.
