Made an error it wasn't Wake Is. made a fuel
stop was at Midway Island. There is a
Memorial dedicated to the defenders of the
island against the Japanese during WWII.
During the Vietnam War thousands of US Troops
stopped at Midway for fuel and emergency repairs.
This was over Forty years ago, when I was
younger, much younger.

TBD-1 from the USS Enterprise over Wake Is.
February 1942.
Made a fuel stop at Wake Island in 1967 on
the way to South Vietnam. There is a Memorial dedicated to the defenders of Wake
Island.
