You should not the red roundel in the center of the wing star. Later removed so as not to confuse with Japanese plane markings.

I am a professional archivist, and have discovered a personal journal of a junior deck officer/radioman named R.M.Simmons. The account covers his service on the Drayton in early 1942. I would like to return this to his family, if possible. Any help is appreciated

I served on the USS Drayton fro 1943 until she was decommisioned in 1945.
Anyone still alive who servrd on her?
