Hi Pete -
This photo was taken on Memorial Day 1945, which would have been Wed 30 May. The caption does not specify.

The year and location are incorrect. The year is 1944 and the location is Fays, France which is in the Vosges region.

In regards to the photo, it was taken on Armistice Day 11 November 1944, right after the Rescue of the Lost Battalion. The photo was used in the book "Go For Broke' by Chester Tanaka and the caption contained the info given above.
