ww2dbaseHans Georg von Studnitz was born to Thassilo von Studnitz and Anna Maria Schinckel in Potsdam, Germany in 1907. His early career saw him working at banks in Germany, Chile, Argentina, and the United States following the footsteps of his father-in-law Max Schinckel (he would be later given the "von" nobiliary particle in 1917), an influential banker in Hamburg. In 1929, he decided to change his career, obtaining a journalist position with the newspaper Neue Preußische Zeitung in Berlin, Germany. In 1931, through a family acquaintance, he started working at the newpaper Der Tag. In Mar 1933, he joined the Nazi Party. In 1934, he joined the newspaper Berliner Lokal-Anzeiger; in this role, he traveld to Vienna, Austria; London, England, United Kingdom; Rome, Italy; The Hague, Netherlands; Spain; India; and various locations in the Middle East. In Spain, he photographed scenes of the Spanish Civil War. From Jun 1940 until the end of the war, he was under the employment of the Press Office of the Foreign Ministry, publishing anti-Semitic articles and holding progressively senior positions over those years. After the war, he continued his career in journalism. He published his war time memoir under the title of Als Berlin brannte. Diarium der Jahre 1943-1945(English: While Berlin Burns: Diary of the Years 1943-1945) in 1963. He passed away in Rimsting, Germany in 1993.

Also Max von Schinckel was not his grandfather, but his father-in-law.

My cousin's wife Anna Maria was never "von Schinckel" as they were married in 1906 and her father Max was not ennobled as "von Schinckel" until 1917. She never bore the von, until after she was married and then as "von Studnitz".
