ww2dbaseOfficially designated as "Armoured Carrier, Wheeled, Indian Pattern" (ACV-IP) , the Indian Pattern Carrier armored cars were built in India during WW2 to meet the demands for vehicle from British and Commonwealth troops. They were built by mounting armored hulls (most made by Indian Railways) with imported CMP truck chassis from Canada (made by Ford and General Motors). Between 1940 and 1944, a total of 4,655 were built. They were nearly everywhere Indian units were deployed, including but not limited to Burma, North Africa, and Italy, serving largely in reconnaissance and personnel carrier roles.
